Need to Know: There’s a certain sense of humor in
the air this fashion week, and that’s not lost on Hannah Weiland of
London faux-furrier Shrimps. After a few seasons making yeti-like
faux-fur coats, charms, and accessories for her friends, Shrimps made
its debut at London fashion week on Friday with plenty of wit. The
broader and more developed collection showed that Shrimps has legs—a
lightweight imitation pony hair in jaguar print provided a breezier faux
option for warm months, while more structured and cropped shapes on
coats inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragán brought a little
mid-century flair to what was a very modern offering.
