The Gucci bombshell—at least the gussied-up girl we’ve gotten to know the past few seasons with smoky eyes or rows of false lashes—embraced her softer side for Spring 2015. Natural was the adjective makeup maestro Pat McGrath used to describe the look (an interesting word choice, seeing as the Italian house is launching a 200-piece cosmetics collection next month). “The whole collection is based on girls being individuals—she’s dressing herself and pleasing herself,” she explained. For subtle definition, McGrath used a damp brush and the chocolate brown shade from the brand's forthcoming Magnetic Shadow Quad in Tuscan Storm as a liner on the upper lids, sweeping a camel color from the same palette through the crease. To “bring life to the eyes,” the Magnetic Color Shadow Mono in Iconic Gold (a shimmery metallic) was skimmed along the lower lashes—a detail that caught the light similar to the sparkles scattered strategically across a kimono-esque cocktail dress ( Look 41) or a patchwork jacket ( Look 19). Luminous Glow Foundation was applied in combination with moisturizer to allow catwalkers’ complexions to “show through.”
